A Melange of Appetites

A Blog About Gastronomic (Mis-) Adventures and Interests

  • 'Tis just a blog...

I am not adept in the kitchen and would prefer to eat out instead (too bad I haven't been to a restaurant that offers dollar menus).

I have come up with dishes that have been deemed edible. Palatable? I don't know. You'll have to ask my husband.

I am not a culinary expert. My posts are simply meant to journal my experiences.

If you happen to get hungry while reading this blog, well... (hmm) you're on your own.

    Happy reading!

Enjoying Pork

Posted by wishful-parent on May 11, 2008

My husband and I love pork so whenever pork shoulder goes on sale, we end up with a scrumptious (and yes, fatty) meal.

We cook the pork shoulder in a pressure cooker to make it tender.  It is immersed in water seasoned with salt, pepper, minced garlic, and a few pieces of bay leaf.  We let it boil in the pressure cooker for at least 20 minutes to make sure that it is fully cooked.  Once done, we broil the pork until the skin is golden brown, a sure sign that it will be crunchy.  As for seasoning, I like to dip my pork slices in vinegar that has been mixed with a bit of salt, pepper, and ground garlic.  This dish doesn’t usually last long for a second meal.  Can you tell we like pork?
