Pure Vanilla Extract from Mexico
A co-worker visited Mexico a couple of weeks ago and I asked her to buy me a bottle of vanilla extract. While on a cruise to Mexico about two years ago, one of our dinner companions told me that she always buys vanilla whenever she is in Mexico. She says the vanilla there is more potent and way cheaper than here in the States.
When my co-worker returned from her vacation, she handed me a black plastic bag with the vanilla bottle inside. It was rather big (31.79 fl oz). About the size of a one liter bottle of soy sauce. I guess I was expecting a small bottle like that of McCormick’s.
I offered to pay her but she refused. She said it only cost her $2. Wow! That’s cheap. One fl oz of McCormick’s pure vanilla extract is at least $4.50!
